Games Here you will find some free games I have made available for download they are all freeware and can be redistributed as long as it is not commercially. All will need direct X 9c to work and the later ones on the page will need Nvidia`s PhysX system. They have all been tested and work on Windows 7. Some of the file systems are a bit messy, Just double click on the executable file (.exe). Source code has been included with many of the downloads. Good Luck and Have Fun.
Direct X To play any of the games here you will need Microsoft`s Direct X 9c installed in your computer. Even if you have Vista, Windows 7. You can download the latest version from the Microsoft website Direct X 9c will sit along side Versions 10 or 11 and will not replace or interfere with them. You may already have it installed on your PC especially if you play games. I only mention it incase you have problems running these programs.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- CALL OF THE DEAD Call of the dead is a first person shooter developed for The Game Creators community competition #1 in 2009. It never did particularly well, as it was disqualified. I think they were looking for more family friendly games and this was too scary. It was well received by the community however and I think it is quite addictive. There are 13 levels and you have to fight your way through increasingly difficult hordes of the undead, to find the 13 cups from the last supper, including the Holy Grail. Screenshots Based on Truth ? I chose the location of Kilwinning Abbey as it is a spooky 800 year old church I knew quite well. Drawing heavily on the da vinci code, the story I created stated,
However after many years the forces of darkness have clamed the relics and it is now, all up to you to get them back and save the world.
A couple of months after I had finished the game and entered it into the competition as can be seen in this newspaper article from the Ayrshire World. An archeological dig has actually started to look for the holy grail at Kilwinning Abbey. I knew nothing about this when I made the game.

GERBALLS Gerballs was created for the The Game Creators - 2004 Game Programming Competition and is a bit like worms only in 3D with gerbils and not very addictive. Screenshots
========================================================================= Santa`s Snake Santa`s Snake was coded for the 2007 Christmas Minimal Media competition and it came 2nd place. It is based on the old snake game only in 3D and with a Christmas theme. The idea of the competition was only to use provided media (a 3D model of a Christmas present ). All other media had to be generated within the code. This means the music is quite dire but can be turned off. the game itself is quite good fun and a very small download. Screenshots
========================================================================= DARK DARTS This was my first ever competition entry and was programmed in Dark Basic Classic back in 2002 for a now defunct website. I still quite like it. It has an innovative control system which many people find hard though. You have to move the mouse backwards and forwards to simulate throwing a dart and press the mouse button while the mouse is going forward to throw the dart ( faster the mouse - the faster the dart ), else it falls on the floor. Aiming is by using the Cursor Keys. It has a few game modes - Round the Clock, Bill and Bin Bashing, 501, 301 and Pin the Tail on the Donkey. Screenshots ========================================================================= I`m Cross so Get Knotted Download Im Cross So get Knotted This knots and crosses game was made for the 2007 red nose day compilation by the game creators. It is has five levels of difficulty and is quite good for what it is. Screenshots Download Im Cross So get Knotted ======================================================================== CARD TRICK This is my favorite card trick which I converted to an electronic version in 2005. I had thought I was oh so clever but since have found many other people have done the same. Still it is a good version and very atmospheric. The File system is a bit messy, just double click the card trick icon Screenshots ========================================================================
PhysX from Nvidia The next set of games needs PhysX drivers from Nvidia to run and these can be downloaded from their website.
PhysX is a physics simulation engine originally developed by Aagia and bought by Nvidia. Many games use the system and if you have a modern graphics card from Nvidia and up to date drivers, you may have it already installed. It can work in software mode and will work even with older cards and cards from other manufactures. ========================================================================== Jammy-Soft a soft body demonstration This program is a soft body demonstration developed for the 2008 Nvidia Competition. It won first prize in its class. It is mainly a demonstration of how soft bodies could be incorporated into programs but also includes two games. Gerbil Crazy
Gerbil Crazy was developed for the 2007 Nvidia Competition. You play a Gerbil and have to complete several tasks and collect sunflowers while avoiding humans and cats. It was classed as worth playing, but was not placed among the winners. It is also quite a big download. Screen Shots ========================================================================= GERBALL Gerball was created for the Ageia PhysX competition in 2006. It is based on an old arcade game called penguin wars. You have to throw balls at your opponent while avoiding his. Whoever has the least amount of balls on their side of the court wins. Screen Shots
